The past practice of NDCDE would be to unenroll/drop a student that had not submitted at least one assignment in the initial two weeks of a course. We recognize the need for our students to work at their pace on assignment submissions and the ability of districts to monitor these enrollments. As of the new year, NDCDE will no longer be dropping enrollments in any courses based on submitted work. Instead, our office staff will review student activity in the NDCDE Learning Portal. When they notice there has been no activity by the student, in the NDCDE Learning Portal, within the first 7 days of an initial course enrollment it will trigger a special notice to be sent via email to the requestor and/or purchaser of the course. This email will alert the requestor of the student’s inactivity and provide the policy, instructions, and any additional links on dropping the student. NDCDE does offer a drop grace with a refund within the first 10 business days of each course, less $20 for administrative processing. Additionally, all courses may be dropped within the first 10 weeks of a course with no grade or refund issued. To request a Course Enrollment Drop please go to the Forms page.
