The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) is excited to announce upgrades to its online store, designed to make it easier for families, schools, and students to find and register for courses.
Beginning today, users will notice a new course organization system based on grade band and MIS03 code descriptions. These changes are part of NDCDE’s commitment to improving the online shopping experience and making course selection more intuitive.
Elementary School Organization
At the elementary level, core courses are now grouped by grade instead of subject. For example, selecting Kindergarten will display all core subjects—English, math, science, and more—available for that grade. Elementary electives such as art and technical education are organized under a separate tile, since some electives are grade-specific while others are open to multiple grade levels.
Middle & High School Organization
At the middle and high school levels, courses are organized by primary subject, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and non-core electives like art and foreign language, following their MIS03 codes.
ContinuityCore Option
Under each grade band, users will also see the option for ContinuityCore, a flexible, short-term virtual learning plan for students needing temporary placement. This program supports students in transition—such as those recovering from illness, relocating, or experiencing other temporary disruptions—with instruction in English, math, science, and social studies taught by licensed North Dakota teachers. ContinuityCore runs from 3 weeks to 3 months, with placement beginning as early as Day 3 of enrollment.
CertX Program at the High School Level
High school students will also find CertX, a set of tracks that help students earn industry-recognized certifications in fields such as architecture, construction, business, finance, and entrepreneurship. Many certifications are ACE College Credit eligible, giving students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. NDCDE covers the cost of one certification exam per completed track, with ND students receiving discounts on selected courses.
Currently, one to two courses in each CertX track are available, with the exception of the Architecture track, which will launch later this fall.
Navigation and Temporary Issues
NDCDE is actively working to improve navigation within the store. For now, users are encouraged to use their browser’s back button to return to the prior menu. Some blank pages may appear as updates are finalized. NDCDE apologizes for any inconvenience and assures users that the tech team is working quickly to complete the improvements.
