Online, University-Taught Courses Now Available Through NDCDE and NDSU.
The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) has partnered with North Dakota State University (NDSU) to offer a new lineup of dual credit courses for high school students statewide. Launching as a pilot this semester, these online, asynchronous courses are taught by NDSU faculty and follow the university’s academic calendar—giving students a true taste of the college experience.
Students earn both high school and NDSU college credit while developing essential skills for academic success after graduation. Courses are delivered through NDSU’s Blackboard platform, and students receive support from NDSU staff to help them navigate college systems, resources, and majors.
What sets this opportunity apart is the transparency and guidance built in: within each course description, students can view to which NDSU general education categories and majors the courses apply, helping them make informed decisions early and ensure credits count towards their intended college trajectory. Students can also connect directly with NDSU dual credit staff for further academic planning. High school MIS03 codes are prominently listed in the NDCDE store to assist counselors with identifying how courses help fulfill high school graduation requirements.
The initial pilot includes courses in communications, engineering, and pharmacy practice—dual credit courses offered statewide exclusively through this partnership with more expected in future semesters.
