CBE may look a little different from a traditional course because learning, feedback, and progress are connected to demonstrated proficiency.
What can be different in a CBE course?
You may not have to relearn something you already know.
Some modules may begin with a knowledge check. If a learner already demonstrates proficiency, related learning activities may be bypassed.
If you are not proficient yet, you keep learning.
Feedback helps identify next steps so learners can revisit learning, practice, and provide new evidence of understanding.
Progress is visible by standard
Instead of relying only on one percentage, CBE helps show which skills have been demonstrated and which are still developing.
Buzz and Genius
Buzz
Buzz is the learning management system where learners access course content, complete learning activities and assessments, receive feedback, and see their raw proficiency information.
Genius
Genius is the student information system used for enrollment, course information, reporting, and other learner records. Some information may appear differently because Genius receives data from the LMS for reporting.
